The Club is run by a Committee consisting of a Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and supporting members who are all elected at the Annual General Meeting.

The members of the committee are shown below, along with a brief biography:-

Tony Machell -  Chairman

Tony retired from MBDA in June 2012 after 41 years with the Company and its predecessors, notably HSD, BAC, BAeD and MBD, although he was contracted for a further year to “help out”.  He is a Reliant Scimitar enthusiast and also carries out voluntary work at Stotfold Water Mill.  Tony joined the 316 club in 2012 and the committee in 2014.

Barry Monk - Vice Chairman, Trip Coordinator and MBDA Liaison

Barry joined BAC in 1965 as an Undergraduate Apprentice. Having spent most of his time in various roles within the Engineering Directorate, his last appointment was in RMPG (“Plastics”) from where he retired in 2000 upon completion of its sale to Chelton Radomes. Barry is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of a local Charity helping disabled people, has a range of responsibilities within his local Church and sings in three choirs; all of which help to keep him out of mischief - or not! He joined the 316 Club Committee in 2011.

Tony Hall  -  Treasurer

Tony retired from MBDA/BAe in November 1998, after 28 years in various Engineering/Management roles. He has been a member of the 316 club for 16 years and Treasurer for the past 8 years.

Ann Reis  -  Club Secretary and Membership Secretary
Ann retired from MBDA/BAe in 2013 after 42 years as a senior secretary in various departments including engineering, customer support and procurement.  She joined the 316 Club in 2013 and took up the post of Membership Secretary in 2014.  Ann is still involved in netball as an 'A' award umpire and as a member on other sports committees.

Roger Dixie  -  Pensions Representative

Roger retired from MBDA in late 2011, after some 37 years with British Aerospace/MBD/MBDA. During this time, he had numerous “roles” and had been a member of the Pension Committee at MBDA.  He has a TVR Chimaera (5 litre model!) along with a fine Ford Fiesta velocipede. Roger has been a local pensioners’ representative for the BAE Pension on the Joint Pensioners’ Committee for the last 2.3 years.

John Page - Website Administrator

John retired from MBDA in 2013 after 33 years with the Company, mostly in the Software Function. Since retiring, he has been doing voluntary work for various charities associated with sight impairment, as well as developing some new hobbies. John joined the 316 club in 2013 and the committee in 2014.

Simon Harrison - Minutes Secretary
Simon retired from MBDA in 2009 after 38 years service in Design, OPSG, Project Management and Sales. For most of that time he was fitting out a sailing boat which is now afloat and he sails from the River Orwell. He has several grandchildren, enjoys walking and skiing and is a member of the Investment Section. He became Minutes Secretary for the 316 Club in 2016.
Graham Bicknell - Newsletter Editor

Graham retired from MBDA in May 2013, having done broken service with the Company with a total time served of 39 years. Whilst there, he held various roles within mechanical design. Graham is also involved with U3A supporting a Family History Group and has hobbies which include wood turning, pyrography and running a 1993 Mazda MX5 which he is pleased to say is to UK specification. He joined the Committee in 2017.

Bob Whaley - Walks Coordinator

Bob joined BAC in 1970 and worked for the company for 42 years in electronics design and systems engineering roles. One of the jobs involved testing the software for a GPS system. This required a reliable source of GPS Coordinates and as a result Bob discovered geocaching. Since retiring, he has been out geocaching, mostly in North Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, but Bob has also been geocaching while holidaying in Greece and Madeira and has over 2600 finds to his name. Other hobbies involve projects made using Raspberry Pi and Arduino computers and winemaking.

    Janet Peach
Janet initially joined BAe in 1966 and joined Precision Products Group. After leaving BAe to bring up her family, she returned to work part-time in Group Headquarters, Space Systems and ICL. After three and a half years, she moved into full time work at Space Systems and Lister Hospital until she retired.
Janet’s husband Martin was a stalwart of the 316 Club, organising trips, coach holidays and cruises. He was Chairman of the Club Committee from 2010 until his death in 2018.
